University of Fallujah Organizes Training Course on Conflict of Interest and Its Impact on Combating Corruption
Under the patronage of the esteemed University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, the University of Fallujah, represented by the Legal Affairs Department, organized a three-day training course addressing the issue of conflict of interest and its impact on combating corruption. The course was attended by a number of staff members from various university departments.
The first day of the training course commenced with a lecture delivered by Mr. Ahmed Abdul Khudhur, Assistant Director of the Legal Affairs Department, titled "The Role of Administrations and International Organizations in Combating Corruption and Reducing Conflicts of Interest." The lecture highlighted the oversight mechanisms and legislation adopted by countries and global organizations to mitigate this issue.
On the second day, two lectures were presented. The first was delivered by Lecturer Mr. Ahmed Faez Abd, under the title "Conflict of Interest Between Breach of Job Duties and Corruption Suspicions," discussing the intersection between professional conduct and administrative deviations. The second lecture, presented by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Mustafa Awad Ajrab, focused on "Conflict of Interest as a Form of Corruption," illustrating the legal and administrative dimensions of the phenomenon.
The course concluded on the third day with two more lectures. The first was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Ahmed Fawzi Mukhlef, titled "Political Conflicts of Interest and Their Impact on Administrative Decisions," addressing how political interests influence administrative policies. The second lecture, presented by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Hamza Khamis Jawad, examined "Features of Conflict of Interest in the State and Public Sector Employee Discipline Law No. (14) of 1991 (amended)," with a focus on the legal and regulatory aspects dealing with this issue in the context of public service.
This training course is part of the University of Fallujah’s ongoing efforts to enhance legal and administrative awareness among its staff, support transparency and integrity policies, and contribute actively to combating corruption and ensuring a work environment characterized by accountability and credibility.
