As part of supporting national efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote the transition toward a green economy, the Director of the Electronic Computing Center at the University of Fallujah, Dr. Mohammed Abduljawad Al-Shibli, participated in the Iraq Sustainable Energy Forum held in Erbil. The forum brought together a wide range of decision-makers, experts, and representatives from governmental, academic, and private-sector institutions.
This participation reflects the pivotal role that academic institutions play in advancing sustainable development pathways through the utilization of scientific research and technological innovation to develop effective solutions for the energy sector. It also highlights their contribution to shaping national policies and strategies aimed at enhancing reliance on renewable energy sources and mitigating the environmental impacts of climate change.
The forum featured a series of panel discussions and specialized sessions focused on exchanging expertise and showcasing international best practices in the field of clean energy. In addition, participants discussed the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving energy security and sustainable economic development in Iraq.
During his participation, Dr. Al-Shibli emphasized the importance of strengthening the integration between scientific research and the needs of development sectors, particularly the energy sector. He stressed the necessity of expanding cooperation and partnerships between universities and executive institutions to support innovation, develop sustainable projects, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in line with Iraq’s future vision for comprehensive development.
