University of Fallujah Council holds its fifth open session for the academic year 2024-2025
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the University of Fallujah held the third meeting of its University Council in the context of the fifth open session for the 2024–2025 academic year. The session was chaired by the esteemed President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, with the participation of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nahla Naji Hilal, the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suleiman Barak Al-Jumaili, and other distinguished council members.
The session began with a welcoming address from the University President, in which he expressed appreciation for the members’ continued dedication and their active engagement in shaping the university’s academic and administrative directions.
The meeting proceeded with discussions on several key academic and administrative issues. The President issued directives on top-priority matters, particularly the implementation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's directives related to the adoption of the Student Information System (SIS) and the Human Resources Management System (HR), as part of the broader digital transformation and automation initiative.
President Hamad emphasized the urgent need to complete student data entry tasks by the registrars and instructed the Electronic Computing Center to organize a specialized workshop within the week to train relevant staff.
He also urged faculty members to support the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, noting its vital role in representing the academic community and defending its rights.
In addition, the President highlighted the importance of leveraging international research fellowships and enhancing academic collaboration with global universities, in order to elevate the standard of scientific research at the university.
The Council then reviewed a series of agenda items and issued the following decisions and recommendations:
Approval of the Institutional Performance Indicators form presented at the Iraqi University Classification Standards Conference held on May 28.
Reconstitution of the central committee of the Industrial Advisory Council and scheduling its upcoming meeting.
Instructing the editors-in-chief of university journals to meet the requirements for Scopus indexing.
Urging colleges to develop research plans that align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and labor market demands, with a focus on research quality and graduate thesis topics.
Emphasizing the need for regular updates to institutional databases.
Adoption of guidelines for identifying individuals eligible for summer assignments.
Implementing appropriate precautionary measures in anticipation of high summer temperatures.
In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad called for close follow-up on the implementation of all issued decisions and recommendations, to strengthen institutional performance and advance academic and administrative outcomes across the university.
