University of Fallujah Participates in Scientific Symposium at Al-Nahrain University
On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, a delegation from the Center for Biotechnology and Environmental Technologies at the University of Fallujah participated in the scientific symposium titled "Research Centers... Reality and Ambition," under the slogan "Together to Advance Research Reality," held at Al-Nahrain University. The event was organized by the Biotechnology Research Center at Al-Nahrain University, and it brought together academic leaders to discuss the challenges and aspirations of research centers.
The University of Fallujah's delegation included Prof. Hamid Madloul Al-Kubaisi, Director of the Center for Biotechnology, and Prof. Dr. Raad Naji Hassan, Head of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology. The symposium was attended by several notable figures, including Prof. Dr. Lubna Khamis, Director General of the Research and Development Department at the Ministry of Higher Education, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Muhammad Farhan, Director of the Biotechnology Research Center at Al-Nahrain University. The event focused on the challenges facing research centers and aimed to discuss potential solutions for advancing the research sector.
During the symposium, Prof. Hamid Madloul Al-Kubaisi highlighted the need for the following key reforms:
- Allocating an annual budget specifically for research centers.
- Activating the administrative and financial independence of centers in line with applicable laws.
- Reassessing the performance evaluation criteria used for assessing researchers' work at the centers.
The symposium concluded with a set of recommendations, which will be forwarded to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for further review and decision-making.
